The Glorious City in the Sky And the Millennial Kingdom

The inhabitants of earth will look up and see Christ returning to
earth in all His glory. Millions of angels will be descending upon the
earth to take back what rightfully belongs to God. Fear will
encompass the earth as they see Christ riding a white stallion with His
white robe tip dipped in blood, and on His robe and His thigh is
written, “King of kings, Lord of lords.” “And the kings of the earth,
the great men, the rich men, the commanders, the mighty men, every
slave and every free man, hid themselves in the caves and in the rocks
of the mountains, and said to the mountains and rocks, ‘Fall on us and
hide us from the face of Him who sits on the throne and from the
wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of His wrath has come, and who
is able to stand?’”1
It is amazing to me the underground caverns and cities mankind
has built over the last couple of centuries. It is said in the United
States along the thirty-seventh parallel there are tunnels and bases
built underground from Washington, D.C., to Vandenberg Air Force
Base, California. There is some speculation as to the underground
base under the Denver Airport where a massive hole was dug prior to
its construction. I am certain that Russia, China, and many other
nations have underground facilities in preparation of the great war.
There are many fascinating cities built underground around the world.
Some of the locations are Montreal’s underground city; Toronto’s
Path; Matmata, Tunisia; Beijing Underground; Paris Catacombs;
Bunkers of Berlin; City of the Gods Giza Plateau; Coober Pedy,
Australia; Cappadocia, Turkey; Burlington, England; Wieliczka Salt
Mine; and Krakow Canary Wharf. There will be millions of people
underground trying to escape the turmoil of nuclear war, demon
infestations, and the carnage of death. No one above ground will be
safe as the world wages against each other in war.
“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also
in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I
would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and
prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself;
that where I am, there you may be also.”2 There in the sky the people
of earth will see the great city called New Jerusalem descending from
heaven. If you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, you will
have nothing to worry about because His seal will be upon your
forehead and His love will be inside your heart.
Imagine with me for a minute the elaborateness of the city. The
walls are made of jasper (a stone with unique color patterns), and the
city itself is made of pure gold, as pure as glass. The foundations of
the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone, and
there was no temple because the Lord God Almighty and the
Lamb are its temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to
shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its
lamp. The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will
bring their splendor into it. On no day will its gates ever be shut, for
there will be no night there. The glory and honor of the nations will be
brought into it. Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who
does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are
written in the Lamb’s book of life.
It is a massive structure that would cover the United States from
the east coast of Florida, north to Maine, west to North Dakota, and
south to Texas. It is 1,380 miles square and 1,380 miles high. There
will be twelve gates sixty feet high, made of a single pearl, and it will
have a wall around it one hundred sixty feet high. If you would
imagine with me for a moment that each floor was a thousand feet
high, this would enable the structure to have 7,280 floors, leaving the
top floor for the throne room with a ceiling of six thousand feet. We
will not need an atmosphere to breathe because we are immortal
beings made from flesh and bones. We do not have lungs, or a heart
anymore. All our internal organs are gone and are not needed. It has
no propulsion system; it is made of every kind of precious mineral
there is and is powered by God Almighty.
I know my heavenly Father and He loves gardens, flowers, trees,
plants, shrubs, animals, birds, fish, springs, rivers, and yes, even
insects. Let’s pretend for a moment that each floor had an atmosphere
and there was a beautiful garden with each level unique in its own
way where we would reside for all eternity. We would not have any
need for restrooms, or kitchens, or bedrooms because we do not need
to eat or sleep. If you combined the total living area it would be the
equivalent of seventy earths including all the oceans. We could easily
fit fifteen billion people per floor giving us space for a trillion
residences. This would give each person one hundred and fifty acres
each of a beautiful garden paradise. Whatever it is like, it will be far
beyond our ability to imagine how wonderful a place it will be.
There would be no more curse and no more degradation of plant
and animal life. Flowers will always be in bloom and trees always
bearing fruit. Then the angel showed me the river of the water of
life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the
Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of
the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding
its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of
the nations. No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and
of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They
will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will
be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of
the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for
ever and ever.3
God will dwell in this house forever; all the angels who did not
rebel against God will be there with the Church of Christ, all the Old
and New Testament saints, and the redeemed of Israel will inhabit the
house for eternity. It will hover above the earth over Jerusalem during
the Millennial Kingdom. It will be a time of fellowship with the Lord,
and a time of rest. We will be full of the knowledge of the Lord where
we will live a life of holiness, a life of joy, a life of abundance, a life
of glory, and a life of service. We will worship God. After these
things I heard a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying,
“Alleluia! Salvation and glory and honor and power belong to the
Lord our God!”4
With our new eternal and immortal bodies, we will understand
the things that have passed. We will understand why God did what He
did over the last six thousand years. We will have a peace within us
that far surpasses anything we have ever experienced here on earth.
We will be free from the mental and physical curse that has plagued
us all our lives. We will be free to fellowship with family and friends.
We will be free to have direct communion with God where there is no
interference, where we can see Him for who He is, and we will be like
Him. What greater promise is there than to be able to have complete
and total fellowship with God.
As we enter the Millennial Kingdom, things here on earth will be
different too. Satan, the Antichrist, and all his cohorts will be tossed
into the fires of hell. It will take seven years to clean up the mess. In
the end of the tribulation, blood will flow as high as the bridle of a
horse and the slaughter of men and animals will stagger the
imagination. Death and destruction will be everywhere and I can’t
imagine why God wouldn’t come in and help to put the world back
together. I think there will be a seventy-five-day period before He
does this, in anticipation of all Israelites turning to Jesus Christ. There
will be 1260 days where the Israelites will be protected from Satan by
God. I believe He will place them in the city of Petra, which is located
on the border of Israel and Jordan. And from the time that the
daily sacrifice is taken away, and the abomination of desolation is set
up, there shall be one thousand two hundred and ninety days.
Blessed is he who waits and comes to the one thousand three hundred
and thirty-five days.5
The thousand-year reign of Christ during the Millennial Kingdom
on earth will go back to the things of the past. Those who survive the
war will have a lifestyle similar to the times of the eighteenth century.
There will be countries, but there will be no more corporations, no
more companies of selfish mankind dictating to the poor. We will be a
collection of farmers. We will build our own homes and provide for
ourselves, working together with our families and neighbors to sustain
a peaceful and abundant lifestyle. God will once again bless the
ground with the plants, trees, and wildlife free from the curse of sin.
I believe God may reverse time to the point that all the continents
are combined back together again. In the beginning there was one
continent named Pangea. This would also eliminate any toxic
chemicals and radiation that would be damaging to the inhabitants of
the earth. This would enable the countries of the earth to go to
Jerusalem and pay homage to their King and Savior. They would
bring gifts and worship God in the new temple that will be built. It is
described in Ezekiel 40-44, and it will be the place where Jesus Christ
sits on His earthly throne. This will provide a dwelling place for His
divine glory to demonstrate His holiness for all to see. It will be a
place to perpetuate the memorial of sacrifice and to provide a center
for the divine government.
During the Millennial Kingdom people on earth will bear children
and these children will have the same sinful nature that we do, but
Satan and his influence will not be there to lead them astray. The
kingdom people will live by the laws Jesus gave in the Beatitudes.
Today our thoughts can deceive us, they can corrupt us, and they can
cause us to commit an act of sin, but during the Millennial just
thinking about something in the wrong way will be a sin. We will be
held to a higher standard because the glory of the Lord will be
everywhere. To some extent as an individual, earth dwellers may be
able to understand the thoughts of others and misplaced thoughts
could be read by those around them.
The thousand-year reign will be the public earthly honoring of
Jesus Christ. It will be the carrying out of the will of God through His
Son and will be the final divine trial of mankind before the present
earth is destroyed. It will be God’s answer to mankind’s prayer, “Thy
kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” Then
Christ will receive His long-awaited kingdom and His enemies will be
His footstool where every man will bow, and every man will confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord. The LORD reigns, let the earth be glad;
let the distant shores rejoice… Righteousness and justice are the
foundation of his throne.6
The Millennial Kingdom will bring in three classes of saints, and
Israel into a state of indescribable bliss. It will be one thousand years
under the iron-rod scepter and there will be peace upon all nations.
All peoples and nations will go before the King and keep the feast of
tabernacles. In John, Jesus tells us of other people besides us who will
be included in the fold. I have other sheep that are not of this sheep
pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and
there shall be one flock and one shepherd.7 The Davidic covenant 8,
the Palestinic covenant 9, and the new covenant10 will all be fulfilled.
