First and foremost, illumination is available to whosoever will call
upon the name of the Lord. It is not reserved for the clergy, world
leaders, and dignitaries who grace the front pews of the church. Most
of these people think they are illuminated but are not. There is nothing
that can be told to them that will satisfy their egos because they are
blinded by their own abilities. Illumination goes to the reserved, the
quiet, and the souls who seek solitude from others, people who you
will probably never meet because their character is reserved, and their
dress and manners are plain.
Believing is receiving, my friend, because when we believe we put
faith in God. “For by grace are you saved through faith; and that not of
yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should
boast.”1 Jesus says, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man
hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to Him, and will sup
with Him, and He with me.”2 “If you shall confess with your mouth the
Lord Jesus and shall believe in your heart that God has raised Him from
the dead, you shall be saved. For with the heart man believes unto
righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made with salvation.”3
Jesus answered, Verily, Verily, I say unto you, Except a man be
born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of
God.4 To be born again means a complete change of heart: Then I will
give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within them, and take
the stony heart out of their flesh, and give them a heart of flesh.5
To be born again is to become a new creation: Therefore, if anyone
is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold,
all things have become new.6 To be born again is to become a
participant in divine nature: Which have been given to us exceedingly
great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers
of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world
through lust.7
To be born again is to truly repent, believe the Gospel and trust
Christ: I tell you unless you repent you will all likewise perish.8 Those
who believe in the shed blood and finished work of Jesus are born again
to living hope, born of God, who by washing and regeneration
transforms us to His life and nature. The new birth is not what we do
or don’t do, it is born of God.
“To be born of the water.” This is the only time this phase is used
in the Bible. Water means word of God. Having been born again, not
of corruptible seed but incorruptible, through the word of God which
lives and abides forever.9
Once we are reborn through the word, the Holy Spirit enters our
minds. Jesus said “And I will pray the Father, and He will give you
another Helper, that He may abide with you forever—the Spirit of
truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor
knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in
you. I will not leave you orphans; I will come to you.”10 We walk in
the Spirit of God. I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not
fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and
the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so
that you do not do the things that you wish. But if you are led by the
Spirit, you are not under the law.11
We are placed in the wilderness where we bide our time in
personal Bible study and spiritual renewal. We settle our affairs with
mankind. We make provisions to arrange our finances, so we are
fiscally free with the burden of financial debt. This time of being
alone with God prepares us for our ministry. It is a time we work on
our testimony so we will gain confidence in our ability to share Christ
with others. The fear of witnessing will pass with experience as we
grow in knowledge of biblical things.
God develops a ministry inside us one step at a time. It is an
important process because without a ministry our faith is fruitless.
“You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your
works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that
there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and
tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without
works is dead?12 Without sharing and caring for others we have
reached a roadblock to the throne room of God.
We cast our own desires aside and focus completely on the
welfare of others. We die to the self-life where we crucify our own
personal desires so we can focus on Christ and the pathway to
righteousness. We grow in courage to overcome by the blood of the
Lamb and by the words of our testimony. We no longer love our lives
to the death. In fact, the fear of death slowly fades away until we look
forward to being reunited with our King and Savior.
Divine blessedness ensues but at first it is concerned with settling
our past mistakes and our affairs with others. Soon it starts to grant us
the beneficial rays of God’s light. We must be careful because many
who reach this stage begin to relax. As our intelligence grows, we
become overconfident and because of our free will, many fall away
from the light of the mind and soon fall back into evil thoughts and
desires. Even though we backslide, light never stops offering itself to
us. Our spiritual eyes should seize upon the opportunity to be
enlightened and be ready to accept the gift of itself.
To grow in intelligence and become a sacred being requires self
awareness. Any time we examine our own nature, we will begin the
discovery of our true identity—the character and identity that was
ours in the beginning before our free will and evil spirits began to
influence us to stray. Who you are prior to this is a false personality
that the familiar spirit tricked you into believing. Once we have
examined and learned our true self, we will begin to avoid the dark
pits of ignorance and will initiate a complete union—total
participation with God. It is a gradual process with unlimited
capabilities for growth.
We leave the reality of earth-bound guests and we no longer
participate in contradictory perceptions. The Holy Spirit deprives us
of the joy we received from the attractions of the world and places us
naked before God to face whatever conformity He desires. We
become one with the Word of truth where complete death and
dissolution with our prior existence dissolves into our distant past. We
withdraw from all wrongdoing and the instant we sin, we repent.
Death of the self is the mere separation of two parts that were
temporarily linked together for the opportunity to overcome. It will
bring us into the invisible realm where the soul becomes available to
the instruction of God. Our life’s disorders become ordered. Formless
illusions of our true reality become formed into something we can
comprehend. Light shines throughout our entire personal universe and
our perfection grows from the beginning of our divine birth. This
outpouring of light is not something that is describable because it
resides in the domain of our mind and will have to be discovered on
your own. Divisions are now forged into divine unity from which our
sight is first given.
All this can be accomplished in your chair at home. The only
rituals required by God are baptism and communion where we
remember the body and blood that Christ sacrificed on the cross. For I
received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the
Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took
bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take,
eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance
of Me.” In the same manner He also took the cup after supper,
saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often
as you drink it, in remembrance of Me.” For as often as you eat this
bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death till He
comes.13
Churches have a thousand different rituals that proclaim a person
a priest, a pastor, a deacon, or a bishop, but these things pertain to
man and I promise you your heavenly Father will grow with you just
as much as you are willing to grow with Him. I am not saying these
things are wrong. However, I believe man gets carried away with
himself and his own image of what the hierarchy of the church should
look like. Remember its leader, Christ, never wore fancy robes and
never had a house to live in, much less food to eat. He was homeless
and completely separated from the church of His time.
Where are you in this timeline of divine illumination? When will
you take the next step? There is so much to experience, yet we hold
ourselves back thinking that it is our ability that gets us there. I
promise you, all you must do is take the first step. Treat your
heavenly Father as you would your dad where you spend time with
Him every day. Walk with Him. Talk to Him. He is waiting with
outstretched arms to welcome you and call you His son or daughter.
