What is a living soul worth? It gets very little attention these days, but I can assure you its value is priceless. It is a commodity that is traded daily in the thrones of Satan’s world. It is of great pleasure to him to steal and control a man’s soul. You will not hear any discussion from them about your body, because it is amoral. It has no value. It grows old, withers up, and dies. The soul on the other hand is so priceless that God gave up His only begotten Son to be crucified on the cross so that He may save that which had been lost, the human soul. When someone believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, all the angels in heaven stop what they are doing and celebrate for thirty minutes.
What kind of nature do you have? This is where the decision is made, and a man reveals his true identity. Many today feel the need to search out the wisdom of God with their inner nature. This is what designates a man as being lost. Now a fool is someone who acts without regard to the consequences. A moral fool is someone who hears the word of God and dismisses it like an oversize sweater. He has ears to hear, but he ignores the inner voice. The voice calling to him to turn in God’s direction. And I will say to my soul,“Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; drink, merry.” But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; whose will those things be which you have provided?’ So who lays up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.” Luke 12:19-21 (NKJV)
It is not for us to be confused by the slowness of God to respond to sin. He has put His plan into action through His Son Jesus Christ, and in His own time He will sort everything out. Death of course sorts out a lot of things, but in due time all our souls will be decided upon. When we ignore the condition of our soul we dehumanize ourselves and discount our value to where we insist on being less than human. The body is mere matter where from dust we came, and to dust we shall return. It has no moral quality of its own. It is simply a dwelling place. Yet the soul is endless, and it lives on forever. It is the essential part of man, and when the soul is transformed to God our body begins to live a better life. We start taking care of ourselves, doing what is good for our health.
It is the soul where our memories reside. It will be our soul that will be called upon to remember the deeds of our body. This day will be a pleasure to some while others will suffer in holy terror. Our soul cannot survive without nourishment. It needs to be fed and loved, or it will die of neglect. Without our response to the Holy Spirit sooner or later our soul will degenerate into such a lost condition that salvation is impossible. Procrastination is one of our greatest enemies. The winds of time that blow through the fields of this earth are not on our side. They do not blow heavenward; they blow us to the footstep of hell. A fallen nature is an enemy of God, and grace will not try to penetrate a man who has turned his back on salvation.
God has given you a soul, which is an essential part of you. We are in control of a giant library of heavenly treasures like our memories, our imaginations, and the story of our life. With our knowledge of the Bible, and our relationship through the Holy Spirit all these things are ours throughout all eternity. It is our ship that floats on the body of the waters of life. It is the memory bank of our hard drive, the motherboard of our computer, and one day we will print out a book of all we have done in this body. One day we will answer for our decisions, and either go before the Great White Judgment Seat, or be tried through fire by the word of God. It is the destiny of our own personal will as to where we spend eternity.
In Christ everything is settled. He came, and He lived among men with His deity in disguise. He wore the garments of a peasant carpenter. The world beat Him, punished Him, and crucified Him even though He did nothing wrong. His visage was marred more than any man, and His form more than the sons of men. He has no form or; And when we see Him, There is beauty that we should desire Him. He is despised and by men, A Man of and with grief. And we hid, as it were, from Him; He was despised, and did not esteem Him. Isaiah 52:14 (NKJV) Herein stands the Creator of the universe: The Word, the Bread of Life, and the Son of God Almighty, Crucified for the sins of mankind.
It is a lot different now because He has been resurrected from the dead; He has ascended into heaven; He has been glorified by the Father. He is now King of kings, Lord of lords, and His brightness consumes the stars of the universe. He is the beauty and radiance of all those who have believed. We are forgiven and cleansed from all wrongdoing by the faith we beheld through our blood-washed bodies. His name shall be upon our foreheads, and we shall be his people forever.
It makes no difference who you are, where you live, the color of your skin, or where you stand in life. If you have placed your trust in Jesus Christ you will receive eternal life. You do not have to buy anything, give anything, say anything, or jump through any other hoop that mankind will try to defraud you with. If you believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God you are saved, and your soul is going to heaven, because believing is receiving. One day, in the not-to-distant future, you will receive an eternal body, and we will be with the Lord forever.
